5 Ways You Can Be an Angel

Psalm 103:20 “Bless the Lord, O you His angels, you mighty ones who do His Word, obeying the voice of His Word!”

How amazing is it that God has a crew of angels ready to serve Him.

They offer protection, give comfort, and deliver His Word to others. Angels are seen as being gentle, kind beings that are there to serve God through helping others. This is something that humans can strive to do, too. God gave us life on earth to serve a true purpose, and when we open our hearts to Him we can truly do some amazing things.

God wants to work through us, like He does His angels.

Here are 5 ways that you can be like an angel.

1. Spread the Message of God
God relies on His angels to get out His Word to mankind, as we have seen time and time again in the Bible. Angels are sent down as messengers to reveal important truths about the Lord. If we want to act like an angel, we also must be willing to spread the Word of God. That means we need to open our mind and let God guide us. He might be able to use you to get a very important message to one of His other children that are struggling. We might also choose to do this through our own ministry work, whether it be inviting a new friend with us to church or sharing a Bible verse with someone in need.

2. Perform Random Acts of Kindness
The angels are always looking for ways to brighten someone’s day, and we can do that to. Through small, simple acts of kindness we can make earth a better place. Pay it forward by buying a stranger a cup of coffee, or leaving money taped on a vending machine. You can do something bigger by offering a helping hand to others in need by volunteering at a food bank or offering to do errands for your elderly neighbor. Tap into the gifts that God has given you and give those back to your community. If you are someone that works well with children, maybe swing by the local children’s hospital and donate toys. Whatever it is, God can use you like He uses His angels.

3. Pay Attention to Others
Being with someone that is aware and present in the moment is incredibly rare these days. We are all too caught up in our personal lives – thinking of our to-do lists, playing on our phones, or thinking of a response as opposed to listening to what the person is saying. When we don’t pay attention, we miss out on the little signs from the person we’re with. Is your friend hinting that they are struggling emotionally? Did you notice the subtle moves that show they are uncomfortable? We have to become aware of the situations we are in if we want to be a true angel to someone else.

4. Look Through an Angel’s Eyes
We must look at other people in the way that Jesus would if we want to be angels. Angels do not have prejudices and preconceived notions like humans do. We must push aside our judgments and look at others for what they are, a child of God. We instead must find the best things about the person and the potential they have within them. Teachers can be a great example of this. Despite a student’s home life or disabilities, teachers can see the best in their students and guide them on the path to growth. We should strive to do that with others we meet, and lift them up instead of tearing them down with our words and actions.

5. Give Aid to God’s Other Creations
God loves His children dearly, but He made many other creations as well. God designed nature, giving plants and animals their place on earth too. As an angel, we can give aid in those areas as well. This earth is our home, and we should respect it. We can hang up a bird feeder or bring supplies to a local animal shelter to help God’s other living creatures. To help the earth, we can plant trees or clean up our beaches. When we help take care of the earth, we are doing a good deed without expecting anything in return. True angels accept this opportunity with excitement.

Being an angel means showing love, kindness and compassion to all of God’s children and creations.

It’s not hard to do, and with a few simple changes you could start growing your angel wings. Open your heart up to God and let Him use you to serve others.
You will be amazed at what you can accomplish.
