What Happens To Our Pets When They Die?
When a pet dies, a human heart breaks.
When we lose our beloved pets, we often wonder what becomes of them in the afterlife. But, like humans, the souls of our pets never indeed perish. Even after their physical bodies pass away, their spirits remain with us, offering the same love and companionship they always have.
Although we may not always be aware of their presence, we can intuitively sense the spirits of our furry friends around us.
And rest assured, our pets are alive and well on the ''Other Side.'' There, they exist without fear or aggression, cherished and respected for the pure, innocent spiritual creatures they are. Every pet we've ever had, in this life and all past lives, is waiting for us on the ''Other Side.'' But they watch over us with the same unwavering loyalty and unconditional love they gave us. So, when we pass on, our Spirit Guides and loved ones will have to navigate through a sea of joyfully waiting animals to welcome us ''Home.''
Most of us can recall the smell or softness of our pet'spet's fur or its distinctive sound or personality.
After the death of a pet, many people are convinced that they can see, hear or sense their pet.
Have you ever walked into a room and got the feeling that someone was standing in the corner or sitting on a particular chair – so you turned and looked and still felt it – but there was ''no one there?
A few of my passed-over pets have visited me through the years. I have felt a sense of love and peace when they have been around. I often glimpse my pure white cat ''Mange'' around my garden and her favorite spots inside the house. ''Daisy,'' a young Jack Russell terrier I had many years ago, occasionally also pays a visit.
When an animal's body dies, they are still contactable. Their body may have broken, but they remain alive in the spirit.
Our beloved pets miss the physical contact of hugs and stroking, the warmth, love, closeness with their owners, and so on.
Pets and animals who have passed on can also feel upset when they witness their human or owner grieving and experiencing loss. Unfortunately, they cannot comfort their owner the same way the owner can, as they cannot be seen or heard. They can take on a new incarnation in a different body and be influenced by it in every way possible, including hunger, habits, instincts, sleepiness, and personality. They may live in a new house with different smells and humans to interact with. Despite these changes, their soul or spirit remains accessible and can be contacted.
So what happens to our pets when they die, and where do they go?
- They can be in between bodies (or incarnations), hanging out by a rock or tree, or lazing in their favorite chair.
- They can have new bodies and new lives.
- They could be your next-door neighbor'sneighbor's new kitten or a newborn lion in Africa, or they could even be the new puppy or kitten you introduce into the family.
- They may even languish in ''heaven,'' waiting for their owner's arrival on the ''Other Side or at the ''Rainbow Bridge.
When researching what happens to our pets when they die, the following anonymous passage kept presented to me repeatedly.
Therefore, (although I do not wish to breach any copy laws), it is essential to repeat it here. Unfortunately, we are unable to credit the source.
The RAINBOW BRIDGE
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been incredibly close to someone here, that pet goes to the Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all our special friends so they can run and play together. Our friends are warm and comfortable, with plenty of food, water, and sunshine.
All the animals who have been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed become whole and strong again, and we remember them in our dreams of times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver. Then, suddenly, he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in a joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.
